Leslie Mendelson returns with Love & Murder-the singer/songwriter’s first new album in eight years.
Modeling her music after such '70s icons as Carole King and Joni Mitchell, singer/songwriter Leslie Mendelson began making waves in 2005, when the homespun debut album Take It as You Will expanded her fan base beyond her adopted New York City. One newfound fan was Joel Dorn, an influential jazz producer and record label exec, who helped Mendelson ink a contract with Rykodisc Records.
We don't have to try To keep this thing together We don't have to worry Too much to get it right We can take our time We can take forever. Cause what we have's an Easy, easy love The way you please me Please me love. You can make me laugh When things are getting heavy You never seem to mind When I bring my troubles 'round You take me as I am I'm always good and ready. Cause what we have's an Easy, easy love The way you please me Please me love

This song is by Leslie Mendelson and appears on the album Swan Feathers (2009). The crowd drifts awayThe music's beginning to fadeThe last notes have been playedAs we drift out of sight. From a young girl selling a roseWhere the neon lights' flicker were closedOn a street where nobody goesWhen they turn out the lights. Oh, but you and IWell, our future looks brightBut for now, goodnightIt won't be long. There's something inside us so strongAnd we both know we belongAnd we'll hold on tight.

Haggis introduced Browne to singer-songwriter Leslie Mendelson and her regular collaborator Steve McEwan for what became a fruitful collaboration.
