Gordon Lightfoot (born November 17, 1938) is a Canadian singer-songwriter who achieved international success in folk, folk-rock, and country music. He is often referred to as Canada's greatest songwriter and is known internationally as a folk-rock legend. Lightfoot's discography comprises 19 studio albums, three live albums, 16 greatest hits albums and 46 singles.

EMI's Gordon Lightfoot Singer Songwriter collection features 14 tunes from his lucrative late-'60s United Artists period. Lightfoot classics like "Rich Man's Spiritual," "Ribbon of Darkness," and the epic "Canadian Railroad Trilogy" spotlight the impeccable playing and cool delivery of this perfectionist folk hero. Lesser-known songs, such as "Home From the Forest" and "Peaceful Waters," are a nice addition, but as an overview of this prolific artist's career, Singer Songwriter is seriously lacking.
