Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar – David Torn. Engineer – Nick O'Donnell. Engineer – Andy Jackson. Cloud About Mercury ‎(Cass, Album). Cloud About Mercury appears in the following lists: 1987 albums. 8 lists, 1,123 members.

Very rare album from almost forgotten great experimentalist David Torn. But it is a case, when deep experimentation gave excellent musical result. Just imagine King Crimson's rhythm section (Tony Levin + Bill Bruford), David Torn on guitar ( he has very own sound, but nearest example is Robert Fripp) and excellent jazz trumpetist Mark Isham as one band. That is it, this album. David Torn is a highly thought of experimental guitarist from the USA. The fact Tony Levin, Bill Bruford and Mark Isham are his band on this album should tell you how respected he is in the music industry. This album is fairly unique sounding to my ears anyway. Experimental and atmospheric Jazz with a World-Music vibe is what we get.

This album continues in the same style. David Torn ‎– Cloud About Mercury. David Torn ‎– Cloud About Mercury Label: ECM,US Year:1987 I discovered David Torn through David Sylvian's solo albums. This album is very much a jazz fusion record, which I'm not usually a fan of, but it works for me here. It features along with David Torn, Tony Levin & Bill Bruford (King Crimson) as well as Mark Isham. David Sylvian ‎– Gone To Earth. This is David Sylvian’s second solo album. One LP is vocals and the other instrumental

On the new episode of The Jazz Session, Jason Crane interviews David Torn, a man of many talents. He's also contributed tones and textures to films like this year's Best Picture winner, The Departed, and the 2000 hit Traffic. Before his film days, he was known for daring musical collaborations on albums such as Cloud About Mercury (ECM, 1987). And he's worked as a guitarist and/or producer for everyone from David Bowie and David Sylvian to John Legend and Tori Amos.

Yeah, this album is flat out awesome. It's a bit cold for my taste to be an alltime alltimer but one listen and it's obvious the talent level and creativity are beyond reproach. Quite lively, almost rock for an ECM record. Heady and technical stuff, no wonder Bruford and Levin form the core
