Accompanied and inspired by pianist Albert Dailey, bassist Rufus Reid, drummer Jimmy Cobb and, on one song, trumpeter Jack Walrath, Ford investigates seven of his diverse originals, really digging into the material. Ricky Ford (born March 4, 1954) is an American jazz tenor saxophonist. Ford and Mercer Ellington (right) in 1975. Interpretations is an album by saxophonist Ricky Ford which was recorded in 1982 and released on the Muse label. July in Paris is an album by pianist Jaki Byard. Most of the tracks are trio, with bassist Ralph Hamperian, and drummer Richard Allen; on two they are joined by saxophonist Ricky Ford. Uptown/Downtown is a 1988 live album by McCoy Tyner released on the Milestone label, his first for the label since 13th House (1980). It was recorded in November 1988 and features performances by Tyner's Big Band, which included Junior Cook, Ricky Ford, Kamau Adilifu and Steve Turre, recorded at the Blue Note jazz club in New York City.
