Thomas Dausgaard - Dvorák: Symphonies Nos. 6 & 9 mp3 flac

Dvorak: Symphonies Nos. 6–9 - Symphony No. 6 in D Major, Op. 60: I. Allegro non tanto, Symphony No. 8 in G Major, Op 88: II. Adagio and 16 more tracks from this album here for free. More albums by this artist.

The small string sections are too small to balance the brass and winds in forte passages, even though they play with a sweet, supple tone and a relaxed ensemble. And, though overpowering, the brass and winds are just as lovely. Listen to the molded Adagio introduction to the Ninth or the graceful Adagio of the Sixth: this is wind and brass playing to match the Wiener Philharmoniker or the Concertgebouw Orchestra.

With Thomas Dausgaard and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra’s magnificent performances of Schumann symphonies ringing in my ears, expectations were high for their way with Dvoπák. While their performances make fascinating listening the overall impression in the Sixth is somewhat mixed. Works: Symphonies Nos 6 & 9. Performer: Swedish Chamber Orchestra/Thomas Dausgaard.
