Alfred Brendel - A Birthday Tribute mp3 flac

This is my tribute to Alfred Brendel.

The album consists of unreleased live performances from 1985, 2002, and 2007, which, in Brendel's own words, "seem to realize my idea" of the works performed "more fully than others. They may be of most interest to Brendel fans, who will spot the new subtleties added by this intellectual but never inexpressive artist.

Alfred Brendel - A Birthday Tribute - Brendel. Alfred Brendel is unmistakably both. This has little or nothing to do with volume, though here, as ever, he commands a tonal palette of truly panoramic breadth and depth. It has a lot to do with richness, character and variety of sonority, but this again is not a matter of acoustics. Brendel's "bigness" resides primarily in the quality and scope of his musical vision, and in his seamless amalgamation of drama, spiritual intensity and thought.

Pianist Alfred Brendel in Luxemburg.

Alfred Brendel: A Birthday Tribute. 20 January 2012 - 4:36pm. Submitted by root admin. Brendel’s ‘bigness’ resides primarily in the quality and scope of his musical vision, and in his seamless amalgamation of drama, spiritual intensity and thought. Everything has its place yet nothing sounds contrived. Brendel is an intellectual but not, at the piano, a lecturer. This album makes a seemingly effortless case for the music of these composers'.

Alfred Brendel KBE (born 5 January 1931) is an Austrian pianist, poet and author, known particularly for his performances of Mozart, Schubert, Schoenberg, and especially Beethoven. Brendel was born in Wiesenberg, Czechoslovakia (now Loučná nad Desnou, Czech Republic) to a non-musical family. They moved to Zagreb, Yugoslavia (now Croatia), when Brendel was six and there he began piano lessons with Sofija Deželić.
